    1) The light emitted by Luminette is white light enhanced with blue light. It is low intensity (1,500 lux). By way of comparison, most light therapy boxes emit light at 10,000 lux.

    2) The spectrum has been specially chosen to exclude potentially dangerous wavelengths (UV and similar).

    3) Luminette has been assessed to the standard IEC 62471 and is considered safe for the eyes.

  • Simply wear Luminette once a day in the morning or after lunch. Choose from three different light intensities for a session of 20, 30 or 60 minutes each day. When the session is finished, Luminette will turn off automatically.

    a. If you suffer from insomnia: i. If you struggle with waking in the middle of the night, it is recommended to carry out a light therapy session at the beginning of the evening roughly 2 hours before bedtime. ii. If you struggle getting to sleep, we recommend light therapy first thing in the morning. At the beginning of the treatment, it may be difficult to wake up at the right time, but after a few sessions, waking up naturally will become easier.

    b. If you suffer from jet lag: i. When traveling east, avoid sunlight in the morning (by wearing glasses that filter blue rays) and wear Luminette around 12 noon. In the following days, move the light therapy session forward by 2 hours each day (day 2 at 10 a.m., day 3 at 8 a.m.). ii. When travelling west, stay awake when the sun is rising and wear Luminette® at the start of the afternoon. Go to sleep as soon as the sun sets.

    c. If you work mixed shifts: i. A light therapy session carried out the evening before work allows the worker to adapt their wake/sleep cycles to the shift time and prolong day sleep by an average of 45 minutes. Futhermore, an additional light-therapy session during a shift can help increase a worker's alertness, as it delays melatonin secretion.
